InfuSystem is the leading supplier of infusion services to oncologists and other outpatient treatment settings. The company provides pole mounted and ambulatory pumps, supplies, and related clinical, biomedical and billing services to practices and patients, nationwide. Their services improve access to clinically necessary medical equipment, while driving down costs and maximizing clinical outcomes.
ChallengeInfuSystem wanted a highly available primary site as well as a DR site with the ability to fail over and fail back seamlessly during a prolonged outage event. They sought a partner to deliver performance, reliability, security and scalability and especially provide service level agreements (SLAs) to achieve the InfuSystem business needs. As a healthcare provider, they needed a partner that could help them meet HIPAA and HITECH requirements, and as a public company, SOX.
The legacy production environment was hosted internally in two locations. Security, scalability, and flexibility were not achieving corporate goals. They wanted an environment that could meet the current need for separate environments for development, testing, staging, and production, and future growth and provide for a robust continuity of business.
SolutionInfuSystem engaged Advantage to validate their business and technical requirements, and to recommend a short list of providers who could best meet the company’s objectives. “After taking the time to understand our business, the Team at Advantage Communications presented us with a strategic roadmap that combined a business case and technical architecture to invest in for the present and the future state of our business. We were able to take that roadmap to the Board of Directors for approval” said Mike McReynolds, CIO at InfuSystem.
As part of this roadmap, Advantage recommended four well qualified providers, and InfuSystem elected to seek proposals from three. Advantage facilitated the dialog between InfuSystem and the competing providers, so each could validate the InfuSystem applications operating in their reference architecture. As proposals were presented, InfuSystem and Advantage collaborated to assess the relative merits and value offered. Sean Rudd, Director of IT at InfuSystem feels, “Advantage Communications not only helped us with strategic advice, they were there for the tactical implementation. Once the Project was approved by the Board, we executed quickly. We were up and running in days, not months. The Team at Advantage continues to act as an extension to my staff on all things related to our infrastructure and is a tremendous value added partner of InfuSystem.
